No-exam life insurance
Who gets instant decisions, how they work, and what happens without one.
Many carriers offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants in certain age and amount brackets, they approve using the form, Rx history, driving record and other data without a medical exam. Some say yes the same day. Each quote notes whether an exam is required, might be required or not needed.
What it changes
No exam doesn't mean no underwriting review. Answers are checked, and a policy from false information can be challenged in the first two years. If the carrier's findings raise red flags, it can request an exam or labs; you decide then whether to go forward.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants under about 60 seeking amounts within the carrier's instant-decision limit, with no significant health issues and no tobacco for a year or longer. Some carriers take results from a recent doctor visit with labs instead of requiring their own exam.
An exam is normally 20 to 30 minutes with a paramedic at your home or workplace in Folsom, free to you. For healthy applicants, exam results frequently bump you up a rate class, so it's not always bad.
